With over 900 arrangements, we can’t begin to list everything here. Just know that we span the generations and styles and will work with you to put together the right play list, and the right energy levels for your occasion. Our approach can vary depending upon the role you want us to take, from smooth background to high energy and featured entertainment, and everything in between.

Click on the tunes below to listen to recordings of our performances at recent events. You’ll hear the trio, quartet, and quintet, and you’ll hear how we sound with and without a vocalist. There are no recording studio do-overs, electronic enhancements, or click tracks to make the band sound different from what the audience heard. This is the musicianship you can expect from a Metro Retro performance.

Standards

Swing dance to tunes like Fly Me to the Moon, Don’t Get Around Much Any More, Satin Doll, Sweet Georgia Brown, and  Jump, Jive, and Wail

Ballads

Try your slow dance routine on a dimly lit dance floor to such tunes as The Very Thought Of You, Summertime, Misty, Georgia on My Mind, Fever, and I’ll Be Seeing You

Latin

Bossa Nova, Tango, Cha Cha? Listen and dance to our arrangements of tunes like Desafinado, Corcovado, Samba De Orfeu, and the Girl from Ipanema

Blues

Metro Retro knows Blues, from the understated Blues in the Night and Temptation to Kelly’s Blues and Night Train to Kansas City

Modern Jazz

Maybe not danceable, but certainly joyful to listen to are tunes like Tones for Joan’s Bones, Birdland, Lazy Bird, and Red Clay

Pop/Funk

We play society arrangements (i.e., great beat; no earplugs necessary) of  funk and rock dance tunes like Watermelon Man, Upside Down, Mercy, Mercy, Mercy, I Feel Good, Ode to Billie Jo, Mustang Sally, Dancin’ In The Streets, and Sidewinder.
